Exploring Australia

TINERIBA FINE ART

This is a Gallery with a Difference.
It represents a lifetime of collecting around Australia, throughout Papua New Guinea and trading to Africa, Europe and North America.

The passion of gallery director Neriba is for items with ‘Soul’. These may be paintings on canvas or bark, carvings in wood or stone, or items fashioned from fibre, feathers or other natural material. Each item is an individual piece and is unique, not mass produced in a co-op community.

Australia’s indigenous art is widely recognised on the international art scene. The major indigenous art areas of Australia are represented – Arnhem Land, the Western Desert, the Kimberleys of Western Australia and urban areas. Each has its own specific art style.

A majority of our Aboriginal art works have been created by artists now recognised world wide and represented in national and international institutions.

For 25 years Tineriba Gallery has held exhibitions, and accumulated selections of the best in Aboriginal art, meeting many of the really great artists  – old men who have spent a lifetime as nomadic hunters and have created artworks pure and unadulterated by “western influences”.

Tineriba Gallery's range of Papua New Guinea artworks is unsurpassed – from the Sepik to Bougainville, from New Ireland and New Britain to the Gulf Province and the Central Highlands. Many are of museum quality, maintaining a traditional integrity. The New Britain material in particular has international recognition and items have been supplied to many museums and major collections.

There are equally interesting items for the collector and home decorator from beautifully moulded pottery, bark wall hangings to exotic spectacular dance masks.

Don’t expect to see it all on show. Some can only be viewed by prior arrangement. But do come to view the variety displayed – many unique and extraordinary items, and maybe there will be something for you!
