HAHNDORF CLOCKS & COLLECTABLES

We stock an extensive range of authentic cuckoo clocks from the Black Forest in Germany. They are made in traditional styles from Linden wood and include carved bird, leaf, deer and animal designs. Some have moving figures and there are musical and non musical styles. The pendulum weights are conventionally cast in the shape of pine cones.

Cuckoo clocks have been made in the Black Forest since the mid 1800s and there are a couple of versions of the clocks' origins:

        A priest  tells of two Black Forest
        clockmakers who bought  a cuckoo
        clock from a Bohemian trader and
        copied the design.

        The other version says the first
        cuckoo clock was made by a
        clockmaker in the Black Forest.
        The idea soon caught on by
        other clockmakers there.

Other clocks in our shop include majestic Grandfather clocks, mantel clocks and wall clocks.

There is a good range of German made weather houses – most with moveable figures.

Souvenirs include Austrian tablecloths and novelties.

Some lovely giftware is on display including beautiful books, jewellery and ornaments.

The best fudge in Hahndorf is made right here on the property. Flavours include:     
    Rum and Raisin, Bailey's Irish Cream,
    Lemon Meringue,  Passion fruit and
    Mint Chocolate Swirl  – Yum!
