Pashmina wool, once the fibre of royalty, is the finest wool fibre in the world. At Indira's, we stock genuine high quality Pashmina shawls. It comes from the fine hair on the chyangra goats that roam high – 14,000 feet in the extreme cold, rugged Himalayan mountains. In summer the goats shed their fine insulating hair and the Himalayan farmers climb high altitudes to collect it. This delicate wool is then spun, dyed and hand woven into beautiful scarves and shawls.
Dichroic Glass jewellery is eye catching. The multi-layered glass acquires its vibrant flashing colours by a unique process. Quartz crystal and metal oxides such as titanium, silicon and magnesium are vaporised with an electron beam in a high temperature vacuum chamber. Not unlike the naturally forming opal that takes millions of years to form, the dichroic glass, when viewed at slightly different angles, takes on the spectrum colours of the rainbow.
